Boxing star Floyd “Money” Mayweather to pay for George Floyd’s funeral

Boxing star Floyd “Money” Mayweather will pay for George Floyd’s funeral, his representative announced Monday.


Floyd, an African-American male died last week in Minneapolis after a police officer Derek Chauvin, a white male knelt on him for over eight minutes during a traffic stop.


Chauvin was fired on Tuesday and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter Friday. Floyd’s death sparked country-wide protests/riots demanding justice and equality to the voiceless, particularly the African-American community as a whole.


According to ESPN, the Floyd family accepted Mayweathers’ generous offer and will finalize funeral/burial details here in the coming weeks.


The former five-division world champion last paid for a funeral in 2011 covering expenses for Genaro Hernandez, who died of colon cancer.
