The NFL potentially could be opening up more uniform options to each team. Each team typically uses a home, road and alternate uniform each season. With Nike’s introduction to color rush uniforms in 2016, teams briefly had another exciting awesome uniform option.
Now, of course, there are some teams ala: The Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns & Seattle Seahawks have more uniform options than say, the Kansas City Chiefs, Indianapolis Colts or Pittsburgh Steelers but with the new CBA Plan passed by the NFL Players Association, the door has swung wide open for teams to brick back some of their most renowned throwbacks/alternatives. If the National Football League approves this, here’s Chris Corners’ most desired:
Seattle Seahawks-”1983 Silver Tops.” Somewhere Steve Largent would be smiling as the Seahawks rocked classics. A personal favorite of mine, the classic Seattle ocean blue home jersey with green-blue-white trim on grey pants with the original 1983 Seahawk helmet with blue face-masks is timeless. Russell Wilson seems to think so too: (Check it out here).
New England Patriots “1960 Pat Patriot Reds.” Who knew the Patriots solution was going back to the birthplace of the “American Revolution.” Bringing back to its grass roots from the vintage red home jersey (with white numbers and blue-white stripes on the shoulders) to the white pants (with a blue-red-blue trim) to the white, “Pat Patriot,” helmet nothing says throwback like these American classics. (Check it out here).
Miami Dolphins-”2003 Florida Orange.”-The Sunshine state shines brightest when guys like Jason Taylor, Ronnie Williams or Ricky Williams rocked their polished orange unis. Orange home jersey (with white/aqua trim letters, the Dolphins logo on each shoulder), white pants (with aqua-orange-aqua trim), timeless Dolphins-logo'd white helmet and orange and white socks rocked off (here) or (here).
Philly Eagles -”1974 Kelly Green.”-Nothing quite flies higher than Philadelphia’s ageless Kelly Green unis. The gang green home jersey (with silver letters) paired with the white, green trimmed pants iced off with the green helmet and silver-coated eagle wings is as smooth as the city itself. Dual-threat legend Mike Vick used to rock them: (here).
Washington Redskins-”Maroon 1937 or White 1969.”-Similar to the Native Americans illustrious history, the Redskins created some of their own under two fantastic-looking unis. The first, the polished maroon home jersey with beautiful gold numbers with white outlines, gold pants and “pigskin,” helmet paved the way to a few Super Bowl Titles. The next, a classy white road jersey (with maroon numbers and a maroon and gold trim on the shoulders), yellow pants (with maroon-white-maroon trim) and my personal favorite helmet (in their team history), the yellow helmet with the retro “R,” Redskins logo on it. Redskins RGIII and Jason Williams sporting them (here) or (here).
Tampa Bay Bucs-”1979 Creamsicles.”-Doug Williams paved the way through some dark dark times in Tampa: at least they looked good losing. Now Tom Brady has a chance to rewrite history and may look even better doing it in the Bucs home orange uniform complete with white numbers and a white pant/belt ensemble. The swashbuckling “Bucco Bruce,” logo on a white helmet completes the retro uni that can be seen (here).
Tennessee Titans-”1975 Oilers.”-Humble beginnings in the great city of Houston, the Oilers unis are as rich as the oil they dug up. Created in ‘75 but perfected in 2009 by Chris Johnson during a 41-17 beat-down of the Bills where he totaled 232 touchdowns in a touchdown in the columbia blue with white numbering, white pants featuring blue-and-red trim along with blue socks with three white stripes outlined in columbia blue topped off with the columbia blue helmet and White Oiler logo seen (here).
San Francisco 49ers-”2015 Black Color Rush.”-Controversial describes these best as some fans love them and some fans find them atrocious. I tend to fall on the side of enjoying them as the black home jersey compliments the black pants with red shoulder/leg trim and “Bay-Fav,” red letters make these unis as formidable as the leaders that have sported them. Here’s Navarro Bowman in one: (here).
Atlanta Falcons-”1966 Dirty Bird Black”-Prime Time was the best time in the A-T-L the Hall-of-Famer flourished in the black “Dirty Bird,” logo helm, black home jersey (with white letters), silver pants (with black-red-black trim) and white socks. Honorable mention would be the sick red helmets. The classic blacks can be seen (here).
Houston Texans-”2003 Texan Red.”-Houston brought the heat when they introduced their battle red home jersey with Texan blue pants, battle red socks and sleek Navy Houston Helmet, that Houstons' best, J.J. Watt, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins all rocked (here).
Honorable mentions: Denver Broncos-”1960 Brown Clown,” Indianapolis Colts-”1953 Baltimore Blue Helmets.”
