Bengals, running back Joe Mixon agree to four-year, $48 million dollar extension

Chris's Corner

The Cincinnati Bengals are doing all they can to surround rookie Joe Burrow with talent finalizing a four-year, $48 million dollar deal extension with running back Joe Mixon.

According to ESPN, the 24-year-old will not be with the Bengals for the next five seasons and this will be integral for a Cincy team with huge voids in talent.

The former Oklahoma Sooner was drafted in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft and all he has done since and delivered most recently, rushing for 1,136 yards and totaling eight touchdowns.

Mixon is only one of four running backs to total 1,400 total yards from scrimmage, the other names include: the Cowboys' Zeke Elliott, the Giants' Saquon Barkley and Carolina's Christian McCaffrey.

In three seasons, Mixon has rushed for 2,931 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is one of three Bengals players signed through 2023 with the other two being receiver Tyler Boyd and defensive tackle D.J. Reader so Cincy is certainly attempting to build for a brighter future.
