The Baltimore Ravens are making a major move releasing all-pro safety Earl Thomas just two days after an on-field altercation with teammate Chuck Clark Friday.
According to ESPN, the Ravens announced they had terminated Thomas’ contract for “personal conduct that has adversely affected the team therefore voiding his $10 million guaranteed contract.
In short, Thomas got beat on a basic coverage route and proceeded to get into an altercation with free safety Chuck Clark. The altercation went from words to Thomas punching Clark before being sent home.
The 31-year-old now free-agent will likely have many suitors starting with front-runners in the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys have held interest stemming as early as last year and given Dallas lack of inexperience in the secondary Thomas would be a huge upgrade.
As for the Ravens, 2018 six-round pick DeShon Elliott will likely step into Thomas’ free safety position.
