The Houston Astros suffered a big blow Sunday as former Cy Young winning pitcher Justin Verlander will miss the rest of the season with an elbow injury.
According to ESPN, the 37-year-old sure-bet Hall-of-Famer was won the Astros season opener pitching six innings and had a stellar 2019 season en route to his Cy Young Award leading the league with 21 wins to just six losses with the most starts (34), most innings pitched (223) and lowest WHIP with (.803).
Verlander has played 17 seasons (12 with the Detroit Lions) and the last two and a third with the Houston Astros going a career (226-129) with a 3.33 ERA, 3033 strikeouts and 1.13 WHIP so I expect him to come back stronger than ever.
