The ACC made a major step forward to a 2020 season announcing Wednesday to proceed with an 11-game football season starting September 12.
According to ESPN, all ACC schools as well as FBS independent Notre Dame will play 10 conference games plus one non conference of their choosing with the Fighting Irish being eligible for the ACC Championship game for the first time ever.
The non conference game would have to take place at the ACC institution with all non conference opponents required to meet all medical and CDC guidelines before playing.
According to the proposal, the ACC Championship will be played in Charlotte, North Carolina, on either Dec. 12 or Dec. 19 featuring the two top teams with the highest winning percentages.
All 15 teams will be a part of the bowl process with Notre Dame being eligible for the Orange Bowl selection.
