Despite there being no regular-game season happening anytime season, the 2020 MLB Draft still commenced Wednesday and it was a dandy.
The Detroit Tigers had the No. 1 overall pick and with it selected Arizona State slugger Spencer Torkelson, followed by the Baltimore Orioles taking Heston Kjerstad, the slugger out of Arkansas at No. 2.
At No. 3, the Miami Marlins selected pitcher Max Meyer, followed by the Royals taking another righty at No. 4 in Asa Lacy out of Texas A&M and rounding out the top five was the Toronto Blue Jays taking the terrific third basemen in Austin Martin out of Vanderbilt.
I thought the top five teams certainly addressed their top prioritized needs and am interested to see how the rest of the picks turn out for each team.
The second to fifth rounds will continue Thursday night as teams continue to revamp and bolster their rosters ahead of hopefully some upcoming baseball once the players union and owners agree on a set proposal.
